CROYDON GOES WILD!

A photography competition for all ages!

This competition is for anyone who wants to contribute a photograph and text of what you are doing in your space, however big or small, to encourage wildlife and increase biodiversity in Croydon.

Did you know:

  1. A third of British pollinator species have declined with a fifth of UK plants threatened with extinction.

  2. England is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world due to its long history of industrialisation and land use changes over millennia.

  3. Large areas of habitats have been lost with 99.7% of fens, 97% of species-rich grasslands, 80% of lowland heathlands, up to 70% of ancient woodlands and up to 85% of saltmarshes destroyed or degraded.

  4. The impacts on species have also been severe, with a quarter of mammals in England and almost a fifth of UK plants threatened with extinction.

All you have to do is show us your wild space anywhere in Croydon and write why it's important to you!

The categories are:

  • Residents of Croydon (aged 18 or over)

  • Schools and Colleges

  • Faith Groups

  • Businesses

Entries will be accepted between 23rd August and 23rd September. Please check our Terms and Conditions before submitting your photo.
